Ingredients

1 cup grated coconut 2 tbsp roasted chana dal 1 inch piece of ginger 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 5-6 curry leaves 1 dried red chili 1 green chili Salt to taste 1 tsp oil 2 tbsp curd (optional)

Combine grated coconut, roasted chana dal, green chili, ginger, curd (if using) and salt in a blender. Add some water and blend till smooth.

Check the consistency of the chutney. Add water slowly to make it thick and pourable, so that it is perfect for dipping.

Heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds and let them crackle. Then add curry leaves and dried red chili. Saute for a few seconds.
